What crate size should I buy my puppy?

If crate training your dog, go here.

Puppy Under 12 Weeks

  • Puppy Crate:
    • Larger than half your puppy’s expected adult size.
    • If you don’t know how big your puppy will be, then buy a crate for a bit more than twice your pup’s current weight.
    • The crate should be small enough that your puppy to not use it as a bathroom but large enough for them to grow.

For Adult Dogs

When your dog is older than 12 weeks, get a crate that matches your dog’s adult size.

Rule of thumb: You can guess your puppy’s adult weight by doubling your dog’s weight at 4-5 months.

Example: 25lbs at 4 months is about 50lbs at adult)
